About Geosapiens

Science-driven climate risk intelligence, built from research

Geosapiens brings together climate risk science, flexible delivery options, and responsive expert support so organizations can use risk intelligence inside the workflows where decisions are made.

Research origins

It started in the science

Geosapiens was founded in 2017 by a research team from INRS (Institut national de la recherche scientifique) university, and has grown into a science-driven climate risk intelligence provider based in Quebec City.

That lineage remains at the core of our work. We believe in peer-reviewed, published research and in creating models that are transparent, explainable, and designed to be scrutinized, tested, and defended rather than taken on faith. We did not start from a software idea looking for a market; we started from hazard science and asked how to make it usable inside real insurance decisions.

The journey

From flood science to a unified view of climate risk

We grew peril by peril, holding the same scientific bar each time, then brought them together into a single, per-address view of climate risk across every peril.

  1. 01

    Flood science first

Peer-reviewed fluvial, pluvial, and coastal flood modelling: the foundation, validated against historical events and government flood maps.

  2. 02

    Wildfire

An AI-driven approach drawing on 70+ variables, modelling wildfire susceptibility globally at 1 km.

  3. 03

    Hail

Convective hail risk across North America, delivered as a 1–10 risk rating.

  4. 04

    Extreme Climate Perils

Nine climate-peril ratings (1–10) computed globally at 10 km, currently in internal scientific review. A distinct climate line of its own.

  5. 05

    Financial loss

AAL, PML, and EP-curve loss metrics where financial-loss modelling applies (flood-only at present).

  6. 06

    Unified in one place

We bring all of our peril models together into a single, per-address view of climate risk: the front door to everything above.

For completeness: seismic risk on our scorecards is third-party government data (1–5), and our proprietary Digital Elevation Model is foundational data rather than a product.

The geography story

Canada. North America. Global.

Geosapiens delivers climate risk intelligence across Canada, North America, and global markets. Canada serves as our proving ground, where we have developed and validated high-resolution climate intelligence solutions.

Today, our platform extends well beyond Canada. Our models cover a broad range of perils across North America and global geographies, enabling insurers, financial institutions, and public-sector organizations to assess climate risk consistently across jurisdictions and portfolios.

We are transparent about coverage and resolution. Each model is delivered at the most appropriate geographic scale for the peril. The result is a climate risk platform that combines modelling science expertise with global reach.

Our mission

Helping organizations understand, quantify, and act on climate risk.

Climate change is reshaping risk across every industry. Our mission is to make climate risk intelligence accessible, actionable, and defensible by providing high-quality hazard and risk insights at the scale required for real-world decision-making.

We equip public and private organizations with the data and analytics needed to assess physical climate risks, strengthen resilience, and prioritize adaptation in a changing environment.

By combining scientific rigour, transparency, and modern technology, we help organizations move from climate uncertainty to climate-informed action, supporting more resilient communities, assets, and portfolios.

Bring science-driven climate risk intelligence into your workflow.
